What Maisie Knew

Every once in a very long while a mesmerizing film makes its way to the queue. That happened last evening when we watched "What Maisie Knew," a modern retelling of a Henry James tale that looks at the effect of divorce (extreme divorce, extreme poor parenting) on the psyche of a child.

Every actor is exquisite here—Julianne Moore, Steve Coogan, Alexander Skarsgard, Joanna Vanderham. But it's the young Maisie—Onata Aprile—who is unbelievable, or, rather, completely believable. The camera never takes its eye off her, and thank goodness. I could have watched that face all night long.
