The Children of North Philadelphia in Words and Pictures

Monday, November 10, 2008

As those of you who have visited this blog know, I recently had the great privilege of spending a day in North Philadelphia among those who are working to make lives better for children, and among the children themselves.

This vlog tells that story in words and pictures. It, like St. Christopher's Foundation for Children that sponsors the programs I visited, holds hope high and (I'll use that word again) aloft.

The music is from Les Choristes.

Thank you, Scott Waz of Audio Post, for helping me re-engineer the sound.

In rough economic times like these, it's easy to forget about others and think only of our own well-being and horde not only our money, but our time and gifts. Thanks for reminding us that others need and deserve our attention. I think the photo vlog and voice over were a wonderful way to convey that sentiment.

Miss Em, you are a beacon of goodness (always). Yours (always).

A beautiful, poignant vlog. It's heartbreaking to see that in the United States, we have children who are in such need. And how inspiring to see the people who make a difference, and offer hope.

Miss Em, Vivian, PJ:

Thank you for taking the time (and I know that it is a lot of time) to watch a five minute video about children in a city far from yours. It means a lot.

That was beautiful, heartbreaking and inspiring. I'm sorry it took me so long to watch it.

Keris,

Thank you. You stopping to watch from all the way far away where you are means so much.
